The forecasted growth of the three sources of US magazine industry revenue (print, digital, and other) over the next decade has been published by mediaIDEAS dataPoint. Although it is US data it is relevant globally, as magazine publishing continues to be transformed by technology adoption. In 2009, digital (advertising and circulation revenue from all digital product lines) represented about 10 per cent of the total magazine market. In 2014, the digital portion of the US periodical industry will be worth approximately $8.5bn, or about 28 per cent of the total market. By 2020, the value of the digital portion of the US periodical industry will have increased to approximately $19.7bn, or about 58 per cent of the total market.
